Leading up to the Maslenitsa (Russian Pancake Day) festival the British Society of Russian-speaking compatriots organized a national competition for young performers called "Stars of Albion". More than 150 talented performers competed in four different categories: Dance, vocal, instrumental and drama. The winner of the vocal competition was Kirsten Campbell -Ferguson, representing RUBRIC. As the winner of the competition, she was entitled to perform on the main stage in Trafalgar Square at the Maslenitsa festival in February. The support from RUBRIC community was immense, with over 100 people coming to London from Worcester, Coventry, Bristol and Birmingham to visit the festival and listen to Kirsten sing. Kirsten's singing was met with rapturous applause from an audience of around 20,000 in Trafalgar Square, her wonderful performance of the song "Russia" showcasing her musical talent. RUBRIC congratulates Kirsten on her win and outstanding performance and wishes her further musical success. |
