On the last Saturday of January, in Worcester’s main library "The Hive",
the RUBRIC Russian school in Worcester hosted their first of many "Days of
Russian Culture".
Over a period of three weeks pupils and teachers of the Russian schools
and community, as well as members of the general public, participated in
a variety of workshops related to the history, culture and language of Russia,
such as the workshop on Russian fairytales which involved lots of arts and
crafts.
Each Saturday during those three weeks, the pupils of the Worcester Russian
school delivered poems written by the most famous Russian author Alexander
Pushkin, children’s poets Agnia Barto and Sergey Michalkov, performed
stage-adapted versions of Russian fairytales and many traditional Russians
songs and dances, to the raucious applause of the audience.
Decorated Russian hats, vibrant gowns, colorful Russian dolls, but most
importantly, the joyful smiles on the faces of both the children and adults
alike, both Russian and British, marked the successful beginning of the
cross-cultural year between Great Britain and Russia. Photogallery 1 Photogallery 2
